Home owners are encouraged to communicate with each other through the Council of Neighborhoods, a group of people representing a neighborhood or neighborhood association. There continues to be strong support for funding city maintenance and the care of city green spaces.
In addition of being within easy commuter distance of Memphis, Collierville has become the location of many major employers, such as Baptist Memorial Hospital, Carrier Corporation, FedEx World Tech Center, Home Depot, Pepsi Bottling and Strike King Lures. The Avenue at Carriage Crossing is an open air mall with many major department stores and other retail businesses.
The downtown area and Avenue at Carriage Crossing are shopping and dining destinations. Collierville's Historic Square is a regular draw for visitors and hosting fairs and outdoor entertainment, such as Fair on the Square in May, a charity fundraiser featuring crafts, entertainment and more. There are 30 athletic fields and 11 neighborhood parks in Collierville. One exciting new addition is the Collierville Greenbelt, a regional trail running along Highway 385, north to Winchester.
